Hello and welcome! Thank you for checking out my portfolio, website, and blog.

My Background

My name is Morgan Gregg, and I am located in the greater Roanoke, Virginia area in Blacksburg. I am a current Master’s student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the school of Agricultural and Life Sciences. I am studying Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise with a Behavioral and Community Health focus. My background is predominantly in the health field, having completed my undergraduate degree in Health Behavior Science at the University of Delaware with a minor in Women and Gender Studies.

I grew up in northern Delaware, and have always been passionate about health, nutrition and food, journalism, media design, mindfulness, and overall wellness. After spending two summer internships in New York City at WebMD and Medscape in their product marketing and magazine sales departments, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the health and wellness industry.

Vegfordays Platform

I honed in on my passion for healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and physical activity by beginning my Vegfordays platform. The Vegfordays platform is my personal creative platform to provide healthy lifestyle tips, vegetarian recipes, and mindfulness techniques. In the blog section of this website, you will find various health and lifestyle-related content that speaks to my love for journalism, content creation, and educating others. The Vegfordays platform spans across social media channels - which include Instagram where I display food photography skills, and YouTube where I post edited video/vlog footage.

My Research

After spending a year post-bachelors degree working in an elementary school setting (another passion of mine is working with young children), I decided to further my studies in health and wellness by pursuing my Master’s Degree here in Southern Virginia. In addition to my studies in nutrition and exercise, I am also a full-time research assistant.

I am working in the Physical Activity Research and Community Implementation (PARCI) Lab here at Virginia Tech, which collaborates with and serves the Virginia Cooperative Extension network. I am the current Program Manager of the LIFT (Lifelong Improvements through Fitness Together) healthy lifestyle program for older adults. In the lab I also collaborate on various trainings, fitness initiatives, and craft infographics and media (see “My Graphics” page).

My personal research and thesis work focuses on integrating yoga, mindfulness, and Ayurvedic principles into existing health and fitness initiatives.

Yoga and Ayurveda

I completed my 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training at the Yoga & Ayurveda Center, which is based in Pennsylvania. My breadth of knowledge and experience in the field of yoga and mindfulness practices are the driving force of my current research. I am interested in studying and measuring the impact of yoga on quality of life, flexibility, balance, flourishing, and overall joy. I practice mindfulness daily, and want to share the benefits and tools with others by educating others and practicing with them.

In addition to my 200-hour yoga certification, I completed 30-hours of continuing education to become an Ayurvedic Specialist. Ayurveda refers to the traditional Hindu system of medicine that emphasizes a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach to health. I incorporate principles of Ayurveda into my research, and plan to continue my studies in this discipline.

Thank you for reading a bit about me and my health-related experiences thus far.

Stay tuned for updated content!

Warmly,

Morgan
